College Diploma Frame FAQs

Below are some of the most common questions about college diploma frames:

What's your most popular diploma frame?

Our most popular frames are the Classic and the Meridian. Both college diploma frames provide an elegant and traditional look with an affordable price. The Classic frame comes with a wide selection of mouldings and trim options and it's finished with high lacquer. The Meridian has a low gloss, satin finish offering a more subtle look than the Classic diploma frame.

What's your most popular mat combination?

The default option is a black primary mat and a gold accent mat which is our most popular option.

Who selects the design of the frame?

The diploma frame product line that's offered through your school is determined by either a student committee, the college administration or bookstore. Jostens offers insight into choosing the best product line, but the final decision is up to someone from your school. If you do not see a diploma frame that you like in your bookstore, you can see the complete selection of college diploma frames at

Why are some frame details prepopulated?

When your school enrolls in our diploma frame program, your school information is setup for manufacturing purposes. A student committee, the college administration or bookstore choose the school spellout and whether there is a foil seal, a medallion or neither on the top of the mat.

What if I can't find my school on your site?

No worries, you can still order a diploma frame on If your school is not setup for our custom diploma frame program, you can still order a standard frame of your choice with many customization options. The standard frames do not come with a school spellout or a medallion/seal on the mat, however you can use the frame configurator to select all your other customizations, so you end up with a personalized diploma frame that fits your style.

What is a museum-quality frame?

Having a museum-quality diploma frame refers to the components that make these frames top-of-the-line in quality. The glass in Jostens frames reduce light reflection by over 85%, allowing a clear and crisp view of your diploma, the lowest possible reflection rating available with UV protection. The glass achieves over 97% light transmission to enhance colors, brightness and contrast levels. The glass also blocks up to 99% of UV light rays minimizing the risk of damage or fading to your diploma, keeping it in the same pristine condition as it was when you received it.

Should I select UV coating for my frame glass?

UV protection reduces fading and other damage caused by UV light over time. Leading authorities on preservation recommend using glazing that blocks at least 97% UV light. Conservation grade glazing products surpass this standard in providing up to 99% UV protection, the maximum level of protection available in the industry.

What's the difference between Mahogany and Cherry?

Both of these terms can be used to describe the wood, the stain, or a combination of both on your college diploma frame. Mahogany in the Jostens product line represents the color as opposed to the wood, whereas many competitors will use Cherry to describe the color.
