Jostens Educator Services: Rewarding Academic Achievement.

For 18 years, Jostens Renaissance has worked with American schools to motivate and recognize students, teachers, advisers, business leaders and many others that partner to strive for and recognize academic excellence.

Jostens Renaissance is committed to celebrating and rewarding Renaissance excellence through a variety of scholarship and grant programs, including the Jostens Renaissance Student Scholarship for students and the Teacher Scholarship for educators.

Jostens Renaissance Hall of Fame

Induction into the Jostens Renaissance Hall of Fame is the highest honor that a Renaissance coordinator can receive from Jostens Renaissance. The Jostens Renaissance Hall of Fame recognizes the successes and achievements of the nation's finest Renaissance coordinators.

Criteria for Renaissance Hall of Fame Nominations

  • The nominee must have directed an active Renaissance program for a minimum of five years.
  • The nominee must have attained a high level of Renaissance achievement in at least one of the following areas: Local level, State level or National level.
  • Renaissance Hall of Fame honor may be bestowed upon individuals posthumously.
  • Nominees will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, creed, religion, sex, national origin, disability, economic status or marital status.
  • The nomination process is open to everyone.
  • Nominations are due at Jostens Renaissance National Office no later than April 1st each year.

Jostens Renaissance Coordinators of the Year

Jostens Renaissance Coordinator of the Year is annually awarded to four individuals who have successfully guided their school's Renaissance program and made a positive impact upon the entire school community.

Coordinators of the Year Application Process

  • Four Renaissance Coordinators of the Year are chosen, representing northern, southern, eastern and western regions of the U.S., whenever possible.
  • Each nominee must have been a Renaissance coordinator at his or her present school for at least two (2) years and helped lead superior performance and achievement in their Renaissance program.
  • Winners receive a pair of round trip airline tickets from Northwest/KLM Airlines redeemable for use anywhere in the continental United States that Northwest/KLM flies. Winners also receive commemorative plaques, plus photos and write-ups in New Heights magazine.
  • Winners will be recognized at the Jostens Renaissance National Conference in July.
  • Each nominee must have at least 2 letters of nomination from one or more of the following: Jostens sales reps, teachers, administrators, students and parents.
  • Letters must detail in 250-500 words what this person has accomplished with his or her Renaissance program.

Jostens Renaissance Student Scholarship

The $2,500 Student Scholarship plus an Apple iBook computer will be awarded to a Renaissance student based upon the following weighted criteria:

  1. Increase in cumulative GPA from the end of freshman 1st semester to the end of 1st semester senior year. A copy of a transcript must accompany the application and the transcript must be signed by a school administrator.
  2. 500-1000 word essay describing how Renaissance has impacted the student's life.
  3. Recommendation from the Renaissance Coordinator.

To apply, fill-in the application and submit it with the above documents.

The $2,500 scholarship will be renewable for up to four (4) years (making the total value of the scholarship $10,000) provided the student meets the following criteria:

  1. Maintains a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
  2. No failing grades
  3. Maintains full-time student status

Scholarship runners-up will each receive an Apple iBook computer.

The scholarship is funded by the Annual Silent Auction held at the Renaissance National Conference. Deadline is April 1st.

Jostens Renaissance Teacher Scholarship

Jostens Renaissance is committed to supporting educators who dedicate themselves to making their school and Renaissance program the best it can be by providing scholarships to Renaissance educators.

Each year up to four (4) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to educators from an active Jostens Renaissance school who are returning to college during the summer to further their education. Whenever possible, one recipient will be selected from the northern, southern, eastern and western regions of the U.S.

Selection of the Teacher Scholarship recipients will be based upon the following criteria:

  • Applicant must be on staff at a Jostens Renaissance school.
  • Applicant must submit two letters of recommendation-one from a student and one from a colleague.
  • Applicant must detail how the scholarship will have an impact upon the recipient and, therefore, upon the applicant's school and students.
  • Applicant must submit a 500-1000 word essay discussing the impact that Jostens Renaissance has made upon the applicant's school.

Jostens Renaissance Grant Program

The criteria for applying to the Jostens Renaissance Grant Program include:

  • Your school must be a Renaissance school.
  • High schools must purchase one of the following Jostens products during the previous school year: class rings, yearbooks or announcements (requirement waived for middle and elementary schools).
  • Written request describing the intended use of grant funds.
  • Submit at least two references collaborating the need for grant funding.
  • Requests for up to $2,000 accepted.
  • Grants are one-time gifts.
  • Grants awarded based upon availability of funds and grant need as determined by the selection committee.
  • Grant applications must be received in the Renaissance Office by April 1st each year. Winners will be notified in July.

Your request must be 250 words or less. Specifically describe how the grant will be used, and document the need for the grant as well as the dollar amount requested. Also include your name, title, school, mailing address, e-mail address and phone numbers (work and home). Please include the same information for two references who, if contacted, could further support the need for the grant.

Additional information can include supporting documentation of the need for funding such as news articles.
