School Celebrations To help the graduates celebrate in a safe environment that removes the risk of drinking and driving, many schools organize an all night class party or lock-in. The party starts shortly after the graduation ceremony, with transportation provided when the destination is far away. The price of these parties ranges from $30 to $100 per graduate, with lots of prizes and items donated by local businesses. Parents: Getting involved with your graduate's class party is a great way to meet other parents and spend time with your senior's friends. A testament for class parties "We are strong advocates for all night lock-in parties. In 1996, three graduates from our high school celebrated by party hopping. Their car ran into a pole going 90 miles per hour. Two young women were killed instantly, and the male driver was left paralyzed from the neck down. Alcohol was involved. The community was shattered by the event, and many parents were inspired to help promote and volunteer at the all night lock-in party. The first few years we hosted a cruise around Catalina Island. Other nearby high schools go to Disneyland." Vicki in Riverside, California
