For the 2008-2009 school year, Jostens paired up with the Green Belt Movement to plant over 40,000 trees in Kenya, an amount that was funded by consumer purchases of DualCastTM rings from Jostens. Jostens DualCastTM class rings combine Lustrium with 10K gold accents bringing style and beauty to an everlasting product. Another important element; however, is that each purchase of a DualCastTM class ring means a new tree will be planted in Kenya through Jostens and the Green Belt Movement.
Each tree is planted by women and children in Kenya, providing them with jobs and helping to improve the Kenyan economy and environment. Founded by the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Professor Wwangari Maathai, the movement also facilitates educational campaigns to increase awareness of important issues such as the environment, civic empowerment, and women's rights. The planting of trees encourages the growth of forest cover and essentially helps Kenya preserve natural life.
