Jostens has been named a 2010 WebAward winner by the Web Marketing Association in its 14th annual WebAward Competition for Web site development. Jostens’ Yearbook Avenue® was chosen from more than 2,000 sites from 45 countries as the winner of the Education Standard of Excellence Award for Outstanding Achievement in Web Development. Yearbook Avenue was judged on design, copy writing, innovation, content, interactivity, navigation, and use of technology.
"The level of excellence in Web site development continues to increase, constantly making the Internet a very competitive place to do business," said William Rice, President of the Web Marketing Association. "Each year the WebAwards receives amazing entries from around the world that show impressive creativity and functionality. As the Internet evolves, so does the state of website development and winning a WebAward is a great way to demonstrate the effectiveness of your Web development efforts."
As an innovator in designing software to support the creation of yearbook pages online prior to printing, Yearbook Avenue has significantly changed the way school yearbook programs are created and managed. Staffs use Yearbook Avenue to collect and catalog images, tracking yearbook coverage of students and groups to produce an inclusive book. Design tools in Yearbook Avenue provide virtual access to all pages, enabling yearbook editors to review all content and flow as the storyline for the unique school year develops.
"Jostens is honored to be recognized by the Web Marketing Association for Yearbook Avenue and its innovative use of technology to evolve yearbook design and production," said Eric Loring, Vice President, eBusiness, Jostens. “Our team is committed to providing yearbook advisers and staffs new ideas and new technology to keep yearbook programs fresh and exciting. We recognize the important tradition of yearbooks and this award is a reflection of our continued investment in creating the best yearbook experience.”
Adding to its award winning yearbook tools and applications, Jostens has also announced the launch of an exciting new way for students to personalize their yearbooks as a lasting memory of their school years. Jostens Personal Yearbook Pages™ provide the opportunity for students to publish a unique pictorial of the photos and stories of themselves, friends and events, and add those pages to their personal copy of the yearbook published by their school.
The competition was judged by a team of independent Internet professionals representing a variety of relevant disciplines of Web site development. Judges included members of the media, advertising executives, site designers, creative directors, corporate marketing executives, content providers and webmasters.
The 2010 WebAwards are sponsored by the following leading organizations: ExactTarget, Burst Media, PR Newswire, AllBusiness, BGT Partners, ad:tech conferences, NewsUSA, Internet World UK, Search Engine Strategies, Webmaster Radio and Website Magazine.
