The Detroit Tigers presented its players with their 2012 American League Championship Rings in an emotionally-moving, on-field ceremony at Comerica Park on Saturday, April 6, 2013. The ring ceremony was held prior to Saturday night's game with the New York Yankees, the team the Tigers defeated in the American League Championship Series. Crafted in 10-karat white gold, the top of each championship ring radiates the iconic Tigers "D" logo, which sparkles resplendently with 47 round brilliant cut diamonds and 118 round brilliant cut diamonds. The Detroit Tigers logo, featured atop a baseball diamond made of fire blue spinel stone and set with 25 round brilliant cut diamonds and four princess cut diamonds, is framed with the acclaimed insignia, "AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONS."
Each distinctive ring is personalized on one side with the player's name, the Detroit Tigers "D" and Tigers head logo, which is outlined with 11 round brilliant cut diamonds to represent the total number of times that the Tigers have won American League pennants. The reverse side of the ring features the team name and incorporates the American League Trophy and the year 2012.
