Your Virtual Commencement event isn't complete until you distribute diplomas and help your students get their time-honored picture with it in their cap & gown. Below are safe and memorable ways to cap off your Virtual Commencement experience.

DRIVE-THRU PICKUP

Hold a drive-thru in your school parking lot to hand out student diplomas, while retaining social distancing.

PICKUP CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Determine your date, time and place and communicate to parents and students.
  • Instruct students to wear cap and gown.
  • Depending on class size, split up curbside pick-up locations alphabetically.
  • Set up one location for diploma pickup and another location with a set-up to take official pictures.

PARADE PICKUP

Take the drive-thru one step further and morph it into a parade ceremony. Invite the whole community to celebrate.

PARADE PICKUP CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Set up a date, time and place and communicate to parents and students.
  • Instruct students to wear cap and gown and decorate their cars for a parade across town.
  • Invite the community to stand outside (at safe distances) to cheer on the Class of 2021 as they drive by.
  • Set up a videographer to capture the parade.
  • End by safely presenting diplomas into each graduate’s car.
  • Set up a location to take official pictures, with a photographer staying 6ft away.

STAGE PICKUP

Provide a graduation stage set where you can open the doors for graduates to come in, get presented their diploma and take an official picture.

STAGE PICKUP CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Create a sign-up sheet with allocated dates and times.
  • Instruct graduates to wear cap and gown.
  • Keep groups to 10 or less people at any given time.
  • For safety, set up diplomas to be presented without close interaction.
  • Set up a location to take official pictures, with a photographer staying 6ft away.

YOUR DIPLOMA PRESENTATION

Communicate ahead to have graduates wear their cap & gown to take an official picture with their diploma.

PICTURE CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Identify a landmark or familiar location to take pictures (i.e. the school sign or class rock).
  • Instruct the photographer to stay at least 6ft from students and families taking pictures.
  • Graduates wear cap & gown to get their official picture with their diploma.
  • Share your pictures for inclusion in the Jostens Class of 2021 photo album.
