Students are recognized for dynamic and engaging yearbook spreads.
Minneapolis, MN - May 15, 2017

Jostens, the leading producer of yearbooks and student-created content, today announced that Lainie Duckworth of Shawnee Mission East High School’s [KS] yearbook program has been named a 2017 Jostens/Adobe® Design Contest Winner. Lainie’s design won grand prize in this year’s contest. The Jostens/Adobe Design Contest recognizes visually appealing and engaging yearbook spreads that are created with Adobe InDesign.

Other notable winners from the Design Contest include:

• First place – Ryan Krogh, Santa Susana High School [CA]
• Second Place – Athena Aquino, Grand Blanc High School [MI]
• Third Place – Omar Rana – St. Mark’s School of Texas [TX]

The Jostens’ Adobe/InDesign contest is held once a year in the spring for yearbook staff in high school or middle school yearbook programs. Three veteran yearbook advisers: Linda Drake, Amy Morgan and Mary Patrick, served as judges for this year’s contest.

“Jostens is proud to recognize yearbook staffs and advisers who create engaging yearbooks that tell the story of their school communities,” Chuck Mooty, Jostens chief executive officer, said. “We recognize this contest is a fun way to showcase the creativity and talents of these young designers and it’s inspiring to see the quality of designs submitted. Skills learned in the classroom creating the yearbook help prepare students for college and career and we’re proud to be part of this project-based learning opportunity.”

Hundreds of students from around the nation submitted their designs, but only four winners  (Grand Prize – Third) were chosen. Grand Prize – Second place winners will receive a year subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud. All four winners will have their designs printed in the 2018 Jostens Look Book so the entire yearbook community will be aware of the outstanding achievement.
