Jostens Unveils North Dakota State University Championship Rings and Fan Jewelry Collection

Custom designed rings presented to players prior to annual Green & Gold Spring Game

Minneapolis, MN - April 20, 2018

Jostens, the nation’s leading provider of custom, hand-crafted fine jewelry for college and professional sports teams, has once again partnered with North Dakota State University (NDSU) to create the Bison football team’s 2017 FCS championship ring and a collection of championship jewelry for its fans. The rings were presented today to NDSU players and coaches prior to the team’s annual Green & Gold Spring Game held at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome.

The 2017 NDSU Championship Ring commemorates the Bison’s sixth championship in seven years. NDSU has partnered with Jostens to create all six of the team’s championship rings since 2011.

“Jostens is honored to once again partner with NDSU to design a ring and fan collection that not only celebrates the 2017 team’s achievement, but also exemplifies the program’s legacy of success,” said Chris Poitras, Chief Operating Officer and VP of Jostens College and Professional Sports division. “These stunning rings were handcrafted to recognize the team’s accomplishment and commemorate the program’s legacy.”

“It has been a pleasure to continue our partnership with Jostens to craft these one-of-a-kind keepsakes which, thanks to the generosity of Team Makers, we will be awarding to each player and coach,” said Troy Goergen, Senior Associate Director of Athletics External Operations, NDSU. “We are also proud to unveil for our fans a custom selection of personalized jewelry with designs inspired by the FCS championship ring.”

The ring top features the Bison logo set atop a raised dimensional image of the NCAA Championship Trophy. Embedded in the inner bezel of the ring are 16 princess-cut stones representing the 16 games played during the 2017 season. Six round shamrock spinel stones represent the six championships earned by the Bison in the last seven years.

Engraved on the bottom bezel of the right side of the ring is the phrase “Standard Over Feeling” – a source of inspiration gained from motivational speaker Will Compton of the Washington Redskins. Below the phrase, each ring is personalized with the name of the player or coach and the player’s position or number. An image of the Fargodome – home of the Bison – is also featured.

The left side of the ring features the Bison’s 14-1 record, as well as the team’s motto, “Empty the Tank.” The inside arbor of the ring includes a pictograph with the letters “MT” (empty) appearing on an image of a fuel tank. The year of every NDSU Bison football championship is also listed on the inside of the ring.

To further celebrate this remarkable chapter in the program’s history, NDSU and Jostens collaborated to create a custom selection of personalized jewelry and collectibles for Bison fans. The collection was available for sale at the NDSU Tailgate Expo today from 4-8 pm inside the Fargodome, and will also be available online at for a limited time.
